La Marzocco Linea

La Marzocco Linea commercial espresso machine brought about many espresso machine innovations. When La Marzocco introduced the Linea in 1990 it was evident that the world of espresso would never be the same. Prior to Marzocoo Linea release, espresso machine temperature stability was hard if not impossible to achieve. In the Linea espresso machines, La Marzocco deviated from the traditional single boiler system and created a dual boiler scheme. One boiler dedicated to brewing and one boiler dedicated to steaming. Now that the boiler was specifically used for brewing, the temperature could be set for that purpose. Furthermore, in the past, the steaming of milk could and often times drain the boiler creating a delay in brewing ability during reheat. By designing a separate boiler for steaming, La Marzocco found a way to eliminate the effects of steaming on the espresso machine’s capability to brew. Recommendation: The La Marzocco Linea is a high volume, and well constructed espresso machine. It has a stainless steel boiler resistant to hard water and offers PID control for temperature stability. The Linea however does lack some features that are now commonly available on many espresso machines such as a digital display for baristas or easy accessable PID control; all features now available on the Linea PB, FB80 and GB5. View the La Marzocco Strada for individual group temperature adjustments.
